Essential Needs for the Human Kind

human life is full of needs which allow a person to live. Let’s start by the meaning of the word “Need”. Need is every thing (physiological or psychological) a human kind requires to have a kind of life. It can be understood as “Necessity or essential”. Needs should be the first thing to think about because they play a big role in human behaviors shaping. Needs shape us emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually, etc.

you may ask yourself how needs shape people in such ways as they were mentioned above. Let start by understanding types of Needs and then we will come back to the way they shape us. Let us use the Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of Needs diagram; as Maslow explained by his diagram, there are five main types of needs which play a big role in human life:

  1. Physiological Needs

This is the most important type of Needs because it is also considered as the basic one because it involves all things needed to a person to survive like food, drinks, home, sleeping, wearing, air, etc. In other words once a person fails to find these things of the first category it can be very difficult to survive.

2. Safety Needs

These are the needs which are classified at the second level of human needs. They are important as well as Physiological needs but they can’t be on the first level. As Maslow explained this level, he said that all of these needs are related to the way a person feels that he/she is secured. In other words it is about the human security. Maslow included physical and emotional protection from harms, financial security.

3. Social Needs

This level of Needs refers to the person connection with others. A human kind life is built in a way which allows him/her to be in community. Which means that a person cannot live alone without other people support. Maslow included Affection, belongingness, acceptance and friendship. A person needs a person to talk to who can hear his/her problems, who gives advises to him/her; a person needs to feel that he is loved or that he belongs to someone else.

4. Esteem Needs

Basing on the way a human was created; he/she needs self respect and being respected by other people. A person needs to have a good status with a community and feeling that he/she is valued among others; in other words she/she needs others attention.

5. Self Actualization Needs

This level leads refers to the need for personal growth and development. A person has needs of having new skills, achieving goals, exploring new places, etc. As Abraham Maslow said this level is for determining that a person understands human behaviors and his/her place in the world.

As we saw the meaning of word Needs and how Needs are classified; you yourself can see how these needs are considered in our daily life. Many people try their best to get these things from the first and the second level of Maslow’s diagram of Needs because once you have these things you can survive but they are not enough to be an important person within the society. Parents do their best too to raise their children giving them what they think that are enough for them for their lives but they don’t think on the third level of Maslow chart of Needs which is “Social Needs”.

This third level is very important too because it is the one which makes a person to be this or that. It affects the person’s emotions and we know that emotions are part of human kind. Unemotional person is danger within the society and emotions can be built or destroyed in life of a person. As we saw it above; a mankind was created to be in community where he needs others support and giving his/her support to others. The thing which allows people to have a good community is how this third level of needs was taken care of, because once a person grew without anyone’s help, without anyone affection, living in loneliness, he/she can’t understanding the meaning of living together and he/she can behave in a wrong way.

From the birth of a person he/she needs to get all these needs of the first three levels because all of them can be given by parents and neighbor or any other one who has that heart and responsibility. And these remaining levels a person can fulfil them himself/herself but those three ones can be be given by others.

as i conclude, i advise parents not to forget that they need to play their role in building this third level of human needs in order to let their children feel loved, belonged; because it helps the child to grow emotionally which will allow him/her to have good conducts within the society. Often times children who have disabilities use to live in life where their parents do not care about their life and try to feed them only but forget that they need to feel that they are loved too, they need affection as well as other normal children. Basing on different examples; People who have disabilities can have a good life like normal people, they just need the same opportunities as others to prove how strong and powerful they are. So dear parents try your best to support your children through building their emotion in order to prepare the good community.
