The word of God shows us that God created the world and all creatures in six days. At the sixth day, God created a man (Adam) but after Adam creation God decided to create an other person in order to let Adam be happy; and he created Eve. There is no other person who was created in this same way as Adam and Eve. In other words; all people are descendants of Adam and Eve.
Through Adam and Eve, now we have boys and girls, shorts and tall ones, whites and black people, those who have disabilities and normal people, etc. In other words every person in this world is Adam’s descendant which means that he/she is in God’s plan because once God put Adam in Eden gave him the responsibility to produce/multiply to fill the earth and subdue it (Gen.1:28). People kept being multiplied with different body conditions but however the body is; the person keeps being a humankind.
Through different reasons the society started to differentiate people through counting on the way they look; like sorting people basing on their skin color, cultures, religions, body conditions, etc. At this time; lets focus on this group of people who have disabilities who was also abandoned in many societies. In different societies and cultures it’s like a shame to have a person who have disabilities as a parent or as a friend; which cause people not to declare that they have such people in their families. They are imprisoned in families, they can’t have the same rights as other people. The reality is that once every person gets opportunities and all needed things in life; he/she can be an important and significant person in his/her society.
This thing of not getting the same opportunities as normal people causes them to have unfair lives; that’s why you find many people begging in streets and carparks; they live unworthy live where they can’t find basic needs in their lives.
Ni Uwacu Foundation wants to see these people living good lives and providing for their families because they all have dreams to show the world that they can influence the world too.; that’s why Ni Uwacu has these following objectives to support and encourage them.
See how the I Uwacu Foundation plans to reach their goals:
- Reaching people who have disabilities through giving them enough time of being together.
- Giving them the chance for joy through different games so that they may build a good relationship among them and having joy which they missed before
- Giving them the opportunities to be educated through paying their school fees and giving school materials
- Helping them to be employed through creating jobs for them and giving them the ability and materials to be used
- Teaching them to do handcrafts in order to help them to get opportunities which will make them reach to self-reliance
- Helping them to discover their spiritual gifts and use them accordingly basing on what the word of God teaches
- Giving them chances to exercise/practice their talent and gifts
- Setting the council which will be charged to follow everyone among the organization and see if there is any change brought by living in the organization
- If there is anyone who is seen in mistake will be required to give explanation and get punished when is necessary.
- When the possession of the organization is stolen by anyone for his/her own benefits, he/she will be ordered to bring them back for his sake or for the sake of the government laws.
- Setting the steady time to meet as the organization executive committee so that we may set the problems which were discovered, making the evaluation and make the action plan for every year.
- Helping organization members to find the market for their products.
- Members of the organization will do their activities together in groups regarding to their disabilities.
Through these objectives, we hope that they will be able to achieve their goal and the community will finally know that even though they have disabilities, they play a big role in daily life.
